Teresa C. Chen, MD The Chandler Grant Glaucoma Society is honored to recognize Dr. Teresa C. Chen as the 2026 Chandler Grant Honorary Lecturer. Dr. Chen will deliver the Chandler Grant Honorary Lecture during the morning session of the New England Ophthalmological Society (NEOS) Annual Meeting on Friday, December 4, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts. This distinguished honor recognizes her exceptional achievements in glaucoma care, research, education, and leadership, as well as her longstanding service to the Chandler Grant Glaucoma Society. Dr. Chen is a full-time glaucoma specialist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Throughout her distinguished career, she has served as Director of Clinical Affairs for the Glaucoma Service and as Massachusetts Eye and Ear's first Chief Quality Officer. She has earned international recognition for her excellence in patient care, research, education, and mentorship. A pioneering clinician-scientist, Dr. Chen has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and was the only ophthalmologist on the research team that first developed 3D spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) and swept source OCT, which are both now standard of care in ophthalmology clinics worldwide. She is also the editor of the internationally acclaimed textbook Glaucoma Surgery, which became Elsevier's top-selling ophthalmology subspecialty text during its first year of publication and has since been translated into eight languages. Her many honors include the Harvard Medical School A. Clifford Barger Excellence in Mentoring Award, the Women in Ophthalmology Scientific Contribution Award, the American Academy of Ophthalmology Senior Achievement Award, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Secretariat Award. Throughout her years of service to the Chandler Grant Glaucoma Society, she has held various leadership positions, which include past Vice President and then President. She has also served as the first Course Director of the Chandler Grant Glaucoma Symposium, which was the Society's internationally recognized educational conference presented through the Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Eye and Ear.
